As the world of TPM becomes more and more consolidated and monopolized, the Partner Program here at Balata becomes a rarity. The team setout to be the best Third party maintenance provider in the world, and we're still moving towards that goal, but a welcome side effect of that is this: The Balata Partner Program became the premier program for a boutique and personalized customer experience throughout the sales cycle itself.

In practice, that means a partner talks to a person instead of a portal, and it's the same person from the first quote through the renewal. Boutique isn't a tone we use in our marketing. It's how the program is built to operate.

We serve as a resource to our partners. In a recent case study, we were approached by a vendor team as they were positioning a competitive takeout with Pure Storage. Their customer’s current environment was due to be off maintenance in January of 2026, but due to budget, their refresh wasn’t scheduled until Q4 of 2026. This creates a potential gap in support. That's roughly nine months of production storage carrying no SLA, no parts entitlement, and no guaranteed response time and simply waiting out has its own cost, since reinstating lapsed OEM coverage typically means paying back-maintenance across the entire gap.

Our partner wanted the customer to feel supported throughout this transition but also wanted to instill flexibility throughout the whole process. The risk they were managing was a familiar one: a customer who feels unsupported for nine months starts taking calls from the OEM directly or pushes the refresh out another year and takes the deal with it.

Balata came in with two huge value adds that helped both the customer and partner win. First, the partner leveraged our maintenance arm for their gap coverage support, mirroring the 24x7x4 level of support that they needed for their production environment. From the customer's seat, nothing about the coverage changed except the invoice.

Second, we are preparing to buy back the older equipment to help supplement any future services needed through the VAR. That piece is the one most people don't think about. The residual value sitting in the gear they're retiring comes back as credit against the refresh, which means the outgoing environment helps fund the incoming one, and the partner walks into the conversation with budget that didn't exist before.

Neither of those moves required the customer to change their timeline, and neither required the partner to discount their way out of the problem. The refresh still lands in Q4. The production environment stays covered until it does. And the partner stays the one holding the relationship.

It doesn't end at the refresh, either. When that new environment eventually comes off warranty, we're there again. What starts as coverage for a gap becomes a recurring line for the partner rather than a one-time favor.

This type of scenario happens so frequently now, in a world where customers want to find a balance between service and value. They want a trusted partner that can be their tour guide, who understands the landscape of complex situations, and knows how to navigate the many tools and resources available in our constantly changing tech stack.

Balata helps fill in the gaps. We are in lockstep with our partners as they navigate how to fulfil all the customers’ needs with the LEAST number of disruptions, while maintaining a proactive approach. We are currently changing the game in the third party maintenance world. We are striving to help our partners build and execute complex but comprehensive proposals, while our competitors continue to raise prices on their transactional playbook.
